A Dream for All Dreamers: Let’s Make It Come True!

What Is Your Dream?

Do you dream of a world where everyone is good and kind, where they talk quietly about their differences rather than fight over them? That’s what this dream is about.

Have you wanted to learn something new without going back to school? Have you dreamed about inventing something? Would you like to share your hobby or art with other people? Are you interested in passing on what you know to a new generation? This dream is for you.

This dream is also for those who played sports just because everyone else did. It’s for people who want to exercise but are bored to death by it. It’s for people who want to safely play out the heroic adventures they dream about.

Let’s Make The Dream Come True

Let’s create a place for doing amateur science experiments. We will get together and play with our RC drones and other vehicles. At the same place we will create and display arts and crafts. In another room we will keep all sorts of musical instruments to practice on and make music like nobody has heard before. Another area would have inspiring posters, a bulletin board listing community problems to be solved, and organizations and events dedicated to solving them. We will make another area our imaginary land of adventuring, heroic deeds and physical challenges.

There are some places where you can do some of these things. I believe putting them all side-by-side will make something greater. New ideas will be sparked. New possibilities will be imagined and realized. People will come together with shared interests and goals. It will promote real, happy and helpful interactions in this time when divisions make news and our connections are virtual.

Come with me to make our future together a better place. Catch the vision and lead the way if you can.

I was born in 1960, raised in a family of fundamentalist Christians (I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior as a child). A bookworm, dreamer, and nerd, I loved my faith and also science, fantasy, imagination, creativity — I could never settle on who I was and what I wanted to do, and never seemed to fit in anywhere. The Musement Park is meant to be as close as possible to a theme park on the planet I seemed to come from.

The Community Center Elevator Pitch

ELEVATOR PITCH

Mary at theodore.design offered the great idea of making a short description, an “elevator pitch,” that would quickly grab attention.

SO HERE IT IS:

I have a dream for a place that’s three things in one. One part is fun hands-on learning. The second is physical activity for people who want to try something different from competitive sports and repetitive exercises. The third part is about spiritual and moral growth, understanding, and service. I am sending detailed information out in the hope that some person, business, non-profit, or city hall will catch the vision and make it real. If anyone nearby wants to do this with my help, I can provide a number of materials as well as ideas and presentations. Continue reading The Community Center Elevator Pitch

The Community Heroes Training Center!

Here’s the plan:

The Situation

The world needs heroes. Our community needs heroes. Fortunately, there are heroes among us. We have heroes defending our country. Heroes protect us from crime and respond to emergencies. Heroes help us stay healthy, and heal us when we are injured or ill. Parents and teachers are heroes, raising and training new heroes. Even children can be heroes. We can all be heroes. Let’s try to be the best we can be, and help others in every way we can. I have an idea that can help us better ourselves and help each other.

The Dream

I have been dreaming about places that would help each of us improve in every way: spiritually, mentally,  and physically.  These places would also connect us with organizations giving help to others. There are many centers in this country which provide parts of this plan, but I believe none have put them all together.

The Procedure

The tallest mountains are climbed with small steps. This is the first step. Things that are impossible for one person to do are easy if many join in. I am one, but you can join me.  We can become many. Even without a physical place, we can start doing small things. Working together, we can get more people to join us. With more people we can do more, until we reach the goal. Individuals, organizations, and businesses can contribute and participate in different ways, as in the story of “stone soup.”

The Start

I can now  provide educational materials and lessons for events and special sessions at existing facilities, such as schools, libraries, and senior centers. One of these may provide some space and time for regularly scheduled or even daily learning opportunities. Other people (maybe you?) may join me in offering materials and lessons.

With enough support, we might soon open a small center in an existing building, supplying as full a range of educational materials as space allows. It would also provide information about charitable organizations needing donations and volunteers, and requests for help from individuals. The physical training area can be added later, as it requires extra space. I imagine an alternative to gyms and sports, based on the “heroes” theme, with obstacle courses of increasing difficulty.

The Goal

The final stage is a completed center with separate areas dedicated to science, art, music, and other studies; spiritual guidance and growth; and a large physical training facility. People of all ages will be able to learn new things at their own pace, whenever they want. They will be directed to existing institutes and businesses dedicated to providing advanced training in specific areas. There will be information on ways to share what they have and to help others. Members will be directed to organizations serving the community, and encouraged to be cheerful contributors and volunteers. The center will attract visitors from outside the community and serve as a model for similar centers in other communities.

The Need

With your help, this can be more than just a dream. I am not in this to get rich or be the leader. I believe this will be a blessing to everyone. I’m looking for someone or several people to take the lead. Someone talented in organizing and leading people. Anyone with experience running a business or non-profit. People who are good at raising funds and soliciting support. Each contribution is a step bringing it closer to reality. One business, institution or organization supporting the project could make the difference between fading away and full realization. Each one who joins brings us closer to the goal, whatever your talents may be. I believe that everyone has something that they can contribute to “the soup,” but stone soup without sharing is just hot water.
